Having sweaty underarms can be a very unpleasant and embarrassing experience. Going about your business during the day while trying to conceal damp, unattractive underarm stains can make your day absolutely miserable. Fortunately, though, this is not something that you just have to live with or put up with. There are quite a few strategies that you can use to help reduce the occurrence of the dreaded sweaty underarms.
The type/style of clothing is directly related to the amount you sweat.
Firstly, pay attention to the type of clothing that you are wearing. If it is quite warm and/or humid outside – or if you will be spending most of your day in a well heated room – make sure to wear loose, breathable clothing. Tight, constrictive shirts and tops can increase the likelihood of sweaty underarms. Alternatively, short sleeved, billowy shirts and tops allow the area to “breathe” more, keeping sweat to a minimum. Avoid wearing multiple layers of clothes; while it would seem that they would “sop up” excess sweat, they generally cause more harm than good.
Make sure that you have a good, complete shower every morning before heading out for the day. Pay special attention to soaping up your underarms. Upon getting out of the shower, dry the area carefully and completely. Immediately apply a high quality antiperspirant to the underarms; by doing so right after getting out of the shower, you are “sealing off” the sweat producing pores in that area, giving you a better chance of avoiding profuse sweating in that region during the day. You may need to experiment with different brands and types of deodorants or antiperspirants; some find that roll ons work best, while others discover that sprays provide better coverage.
